Jon Macicior Mitxelena was born in Arantza (Navarre, Spain) in 1996. Ho btained his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry at Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU) in 2018. He was awarded an Erasmus+ grant to spend one academic year (2017/18) at the Faculty of Chemistry in the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, Scotland). In 2019, he carried out the Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, working on the stereocontrolled synthesis of bis(triflyl)enones under the supervisión of Benito Alcaide and Pedro Almendros. In 2019 he was granted a FPU fellowship to carry out his PhD Thesis in the Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), under the supervision of Professor Silvia Ortega Gutiérrez, working on a research project directed towards the development of new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of progeria.
