Curriculum & Projects
Patricia García López was born in Madrid (Spain) in 2000. She obtained her degree in Chemistry in 2022 from the Complutense University of Madrid.
Since she started her degree in 2018, she collaborated in the development of scientific dissemination («X Noche Europea de los Investigadores e Investigadoras (2019)») and teaching activities («Escape Room Química General (2018-2019)» and «Virtualización del Laboratorio Instrumental de Análisis (2020-2021)») under the supervision of Cat. María Cruz Moreno Bondi. In her third year of the degree, she was granted a Summer Stay in the same group (Chemical Optical Sensors and Applied Photochemistry Group) to work on the Synthesis of Recombinant Fluorescent Proteins using Genetic Engineering and Molecular Biology techniques. In the last year of her degree, she was awarded a «Collaboration Grant» from the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training to continue her research on the development of immunoassays based on luminescent recombinant proteins for the analysis of mycotoxins in foodstuffs. In the same year, she spent four months at the Biological Glycochemistry Group of the CSIC, under the supervision of the senior scientist Agatha Bastida Codina and the researcher Raúl Benito Arenas to work on the docking and synthesis of new N-trifluorobenzylamide derivatives as precursors of new PROTACs designed for the proteolysis of protein complexes involved in tumour processes.
He is currently completing the Interuniversity Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry at the Complutense University of Madrid. In 2023, she joined the Medicinal Chemistry laboratory to carry out her Master’s Thesis under the supervision of professors Bellinda Benhamú Salama and Mar Martín-Fontecha, working on the synthesis of probes based on cannabinoid ligands.
