Anabel Sánchez Merino was born in Llíria (Valencia), Spain, in 1996. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry in 2018 from the University of Valencia.
During her studies at the University of Valencia, she worked in the synthesis of heterocyclic fluorinated compounds under the supervision of Professor Carlos del Pozo with a «Collaboration Grant» from the Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte. Also, in the last year of her degree, she carried out an internship at the CEAM foundation (Fundación Centro de Estudios del Mediterráneo), under the supervision of Dr Esther Borrás, working on the analysis of environmental samples using chromatography technics.
In 2018, she completed the Interuniversity Master’s Degree in Drug Discovery at the Complutense University of Madrid, the University of Alcalá de Henares and the University of San Pablo CEU. During this year, she carried out a research project aimed at the discovery of new antiparasitary drugs at the Complutense University of Madrid under the supervision of Professors Jose Carlos Menendez and Mercedes Villacampa.
In 2019, she joined the Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory to carry out her PhD under the supervision of Professors María Luz López, Bellinda Benhamú and Henar Vázquez funded by a competitive fellowship from the Complutense University.
