Iván Arribas Álvarez was born in Fuentepelayo (Segovia), Spain, in 1992. He obtained his degree in Chemistry in 2014 at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
In the last year of his degree, he worked at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid developing nickel-catalyzed reactions between propargyl halides and alquilzinc halides for C-C bond formation, under the supervision of Diego J. Cárdenas.
In 2014, he carried out the Master Degree in Organic Chemistry at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and also under Diego J. Cárdenas’ supervision, he worked in nickel-catalysed cyclization-coupling reactions between haloalkanes using reducing agents for C-C bond formation.
Between 2015 and 2018 he worked at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) under supervision of Sonia Martinez, where he was involved in the synthesis of new inhibitors for different anticancer targets.
In 2018 he joined the Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory to carry out his PhD under the supervision of María Luz López Rodríguez and Bellinda Benhamú Salama, obtaining his PhD in chemistry in 2023.
