Pablo Monreal Rubio was born in Pamplona (Spain) in 2000. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degrees in Chemistry (2022) and Biochemistry (2024) awarded by the Universidad de Navarra. During this time, he completed two undergraduate theses: one focused on chemical synthesis under the supervision of Prof. Plano, and another one at the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA) in Dr Avila’s group, where he worked on the in vitro evaluation of an epidrug for hepatocellular carcinoma.
Following his undergraduate studies, he moved to Madrid to undertake a research fellowship at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC) in the Molecular Mechanics of Cardiovascular Disease group, led by Dr. Alegre. He then pursued a Master’s Degree in Drug Discovery, jointly organized by UCM, UAH, and USP-CEU. During the MSc, he carried out his thesis in the PROLIGAR group at USP-CEU under the supervision of Prof. Zapico.
In 2025, he joined the Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory as a PhD candidate, supported by the prestigious FPU program. He is currently conducting his research under the supervision of Silvia Ortega Gutiérrez and Mar Martín-Fontecha. His work focuses on the development and evaluation of deubiquitinase-targeting chimeras, aimed at validating new therapeutic strategies for malignancies such as acute myeloid leukemia and glioblastoma.
