Curriculum & Projects

Verónica was born in Ciudad Real (Spain) in 1997. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry at Universidad de Castilla La Mancha (UCLM) in 2019. In her second year’s degree, she worked together with Professor Fernando Carrillo Hermosilla in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry in the synthesis of Zn amidinates, borane complexes and in CO2 reduction approaches. In the last year of her degree, she worked in the synthesis of 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-4,6-diarylpyrimidines and preliminary study of their optical properties (fluorescence and UV-VIS), under the supervision of Professor Julián Rodríguez López in the Department of Organic Chemistry.

In 2020 she obtained the Master Degree in Organic Chemistry by Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. During this year, she worked in the formation of polymeric vesicles based on dendrimers as a model of artificial cells, under the supervision of Professor Eduardo Fernández Megía at the Centro Singular de Investigación en Química Biológica y Materiales Moleculares (CiQUS).

In 2021, she joined the Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory to carry out her PhD under the supervision of Professors Bellinda Benhamú and Mar Martín-Fontecha working on a research project directed towards the development of bioconjugates based on cannabinoid ligands with therapeutic applications.
